The Agricultural Biotechnology Research Center (ABRC) at Academia Sinica, Taiwan, and the Department of Plant Biology at University of California, Davis in the United States are organizing an international Conference on "Plant Vascular Biology" to be held on 7th -11th, May, 2007 at Academia Sinica in Taipei. Academia Sinica is the most prestigious academic institution in Taiwan. Dr. Ning-Sun Yang from ABRC and Dr. William J. Lucas from UC Davis will host this symposium.The symposium will focus on recent progress in vascular plant biology, including development, evolution, structure, function & regulation, environmental influences, metabolism & nutrition, transport systems, local & long-distance communication, insect & pathogen challenge, proteomics & metabolomics, and agricultural & biotechnological applications. It would be wonderful if you could present new developments in your area of plant biology in either an oral or a poster presentation. This is of course a great opportunity for you to mix with other leading scientists in the field, some of whom will be invited speakers, and to participate in scientific discussion and information exchange during the symposium.
For those of you visiting Taiwan, we would be happy to make local tourism arrangements for you and your spouse following the symposium. The scenery of our island will definitely impress you, and the wonderful sightseeing may mean you really want to stay a couple of days longer than you intended!
